Cuareim is a transboundary river sharing water resources between Brazil and Uruguay. The pilot project has been developed and coordinated in Brazil by the "Instituto de Pesquias Hidraulicas" (IPH) and in Uruguay by the "Dirreccion Nacional de Hidrografia" (DNH) so as to develop non-structural actions to manage floods within the framework of IFM.
The activities undertaken include an evaluation of the possible approaches to flood management duly assessing both structural as well as non-structural measures with active involvement of community.
