Rapid guidance on technical tools and advisory material

This function provides guidance to the right materials, the right combination of information from various sources available under the HelpDesk, including the Support Base Partner Institutions.

The following materials produced by Associated Programme on Flood Management are currently available.
IFM Concept paper 

Concept of IFM is introduced in this Concept paper. The Concept paper is available in English, French, Spanish, Russian and Japanese.

Flood Management Policy Series 

A set of advocacy papers focusing on specific aspects of  IFM, such as social, economic, environmental and legal and institutional aspects are being complied to facilitate the implementation of IFM principles into the development planning practice of river basins.

Flood Management Tools 

Flood Management Tools are guidance materials for flood management practitioners for various specific purposes. These tools provide in case substantive guidance to the pactitioner in other cases they have been conceived as reference guides. They also provide a clear image of how the different tools fit together for an integrated approach to flood management. 

Case Studies 

A number of case studies on flood management have been collected from various regions of the world, based on the experiences of organizations active in flood management. 

Regional Pilot Projects 

A series of pilot projects have been under implementation together with GWP's Regional Associates to test and demonstrate the applicability of IFM principles. Experiences and lessons learned form the pilot projects will be used to prepare detailed plans for major projects in the regions. 

Capacity Buiding Materials  The introduction of Policy Series in form of Power Point Presentations is considered as an entrance point to induce a multi-disciplinary approach to flood management.
